I am down with work relating to Semester I Examination the whole of this week.
You may start seeing me next week starting on 24 Nov. It is best to see me from early December. See me at any time after 12 noon. I don't see people in the morning. Please do not bother to come in the morning. I won't be around in the morning.

Soalan moot boleh didapati pada ms 8. Hanya ketua kumpulan sahaja diperlukan berjumpa dengan Dr. Gan mengenai soalan moot. Dr. Gan boleh dihubungi mulai 24hb November. (Tel: 03-7967 6536)


















Perkara-perkara penting mengenai moot:

1. Nombor kumpulan akan ditetapkan kemudian dan akan diumumkan.

2. Setiap kumpulan (terdiri daripada empat ahli) dikehendaki melantik seorang ketua. Ketua dihendaki berurus dengan Pejabat Am ataupun Penyelaras Moot berkenaan dengan sebarang urusan moot.

3. Hakim-hakim moot adalah terdiri daripada peguambela dan peguamcara yang bekerja dengan firma-firma guaman swasta di Lembah Kelang. Pegawai yang berkhidmat dengan Perkhidmatan Guaman dan Kehakiman (Legal and Judicial Service) juga akan dijemput untuk menjadi hakim moot.

4. Pelajar dikehendaki “bermoot” mengikuti tarikh / jadual yang ditetapkan. Sebarang permohoann untuk menangguhkan perbicaraan moot TIDAK akan dilayan.

5. Jadual Moot:
10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 Mac 2009.
Pelajar dikehendaki mengosongkan dan merizabkan dua minggu itu untuk “mooting” dan menjalankan tugas moot.

6. Semua moot akan dikendalikan pada waktu malam. Moot bermula pada pukul 8.00 malam.

7. Sample “moot bundles” boleh didapati di Perpustakaan Undang-Undang, Bahagian Bertanda Merah.

8. “Moot bundles” dikehendaki diserahkan kepada Dr. Gan sekurang-kurangnya empat (4) hari sebelum tarikh moot. Pastikan semua pelajar mematuhi peraturan penting ini. ***

9. Soalan moot boleh diperolehi daripada Penyelaras Moot, Dr. Gan, selepas peperiksaan Semester I.

10. Minggu pendaftaran: 10hb – 14hb Sept 2008.

11. Pelajar dinasihatkan untuk membuat persiapan rapi pada cuti Semester I. Pelajar yang Tidak mengikut nasihat ini besar kemungkinan akan menghadapi tekanan jiwa pada Semester II nanti. Pelajar yang mempamerkan prestasi yang rendah dan tidak komited berkemungkinan dikehendaki mengulang semula moot pada sesi 2009/2010. (Penting)

Internal Moots 2008/2009

The results of the Amazing Race Asia were shocking.
Still couldnt believe those Hong Kong fellows ran away with all the cash leaving Ida & Tania at 3rd place and the couple from Philippine at 2nd.

Moral of the story? Luck plays an important part in one's success. Some may not agree though, but I do.

Leaving that aside, the problems and instructions for our Internal Moots are out.
Do find time to log into the class email for it.
Dr. Gan has left clear instructions for us to follow.

That adds on to our to do list for the next few months.
Allow me to list it down .

Looks like we are now fortunate enough to have a committed and independent CJ. The judiciary is showing sign of improvement, namely granting of habeus corpus to RPK, failure of AG to transfer Anwar's case to HC, and also election petition cases....

CJ: I won't hear Umno cases

Newly minted Chief Justice Zaki Azmi has vowed not to hear cases involving Umno for the time being in view of his past relationship with the party.


Speaking at his first interview with Bernama as the nation's top judge, Zaki however added that he may hear cases involving Umno when he feels that his impartiality is accepted.

"As of now, I am saying that I do not want (to hear them) … until such time that I feel my impartiality is accepted," said Zaki.

The interviewer had initially stated that there would be suspicion to his impartiality, given that he had previously won many cases for Umno as a lawyer and was promoted from Federal Court judge to Chief Justice in record time.

Zaki was then asked how he would handle cases involving Umno should they come to his court.

Zaki was formerly a magistrate and Federal Counsel in the Attorney General's Chamber and Home Ministry before practicing as a lawyer.

His days in private practice saw him holding directorship in a slew of companies and also serving as the Umno legal advisor and deputy chairperson of the party's disciplinary board.

'Judiciary impartial'

On the independence of the judiciary, Zaki opined that his predecessor Abdul Hamid Mohamad had "set right" the judiciary in this regard.

"If you look at the judgments of the courts when Tun Abdul Hamid was the chief justice, for example, the judgments on the election petitions in the Federal Court did not favour the (ruling) Barisan Nasional.

"Another was the judgment of the Special Court in the case of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan. All these show that the judiciary is impartial. In my view, only time can determine or show the impartiality of the judiciary," he said.

On judicial corruption, Zaki said there had been "one or two" corrupt judges who had retired.

"Now there are none. If there are any, they would not be bold enough to indulge (in corruption)," he said.

On the biggest challenge posed in his new role, Zaki said that it was the problem of backlogged cases.

"There are too many cases which have to be heard and settled. We have a severe shortage of judges. Besides, I also seek the cooperation of the lawyers. This is because the lawyers can expedite the hearings. I will meet with the Bar to seek their cooperation," he said.

how does it feels?
with those 20 or even 23 credit hours *sigh*

just forget those things for a while, let's now see what's actually happening in our Parliament..
remembering Pn. Sridevi's word in the previous Admin class "... how interesting is the Parliament now..."

and yup we all know what's happening there.. what words were used when they argue with each other.. what names they use to call the opposition and vice versa.. what issues have been discussed in the House.. etc..
from what i've seen on the tv broadcast, i would say it wasn't a good example they are showing to the public.. not even for a better image and reputation.. they have been wasting the House' s time and their time too, being there for no better reason..

i was reading an article in The Sun in today's edition (Friday, July 18th) entitled "Growing Confidence in Pandikar Amin".. the article was written by Zainon Ahmad..

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera

Kepada anakanda Putera dan Puteri, semoga anakanda Putera dan Puteri
berada dalam keadaan sihat sepanjang cuti semester ini.

Untuk makluman kepada Putera dan Puteri sekalian, pihak Pentadbiran
Universiti Malaya telah berbincang dalam Mesyuarat Pengurusan dan
telah menetapkan mulai semester akan datang (Julai 2008) para pelajar
tahun 1 tidak dibenarkan untuk membawa kenderaan sama ada kereta
ataupun motosikal di kawasan kampus. Manakala bagi pelajar tahun 2
hanya dibenarkan untuk membawa motosikal sahaja (tidak dibenarkan
untuk membawa kereta) di kawasan kampus. Bagi pelajar tahun 3 (tahun
ini) masih dibenarkan membawa motosikal atau kereta sendiri di
kawasan kampus.

Mulai sesi 2009/2010 nanti, pelajar tahun 1 dan 2 tidak dibenarkan
membawa sebarang jenis kenderaan (motosikal dan kereta), manakala
pelajar tahun 3 pula hanya dibenarkan membawa motosikal sahaja.
Larangan membawa kenderaan oleh pelajar ini dibuat secara
berperingkat supaya anakanda dapat menyesuaikan diri kepada keadaan
baru.

Pihak Pengurusan Universiti Malaya menetapkan perkara ini adalah
bertujuan untuk mengurangkan jumlah kenderaan di Universiti Malaya
yang kian meningkat. Ini juga dapat mengurangkan kes kemalangan jalan
raya di kawasan kampus. Yang lebih mulia ialah Mahasiswa UM akan
bersama - sama dengan masyarakat dunia dalam mengatasi dan
mengurangkan masalah pemanasan global melalui pengurangan pembakaran
bahan api dari kenderaan. Ini sealiran dengan kehendak Protokol Kyoto
dalam menangani isu tersebut.

Lagipun dalam suasana kenaikan harga bahan api yang meningkat secara
mendadak ini, kita seharusnya menukar gaya hidup dengan mengurangkan
penggunaan kenderaan persendirian dan bertindak dengan menggunakan
pengangkutan awam. Oleh itu, Pihak Pengurusan UM akan menyediakan
perkhidmatan bas 'shuttle' secara percuma yang akan bergerak
diseluruh kawasan kampus.

Sehubungan dengan itu, ayahanda berharap kepada semua Putera dan
Puteri agar mengambil nilai positif dari penetapan ini dan tidak
menganggap peraturan ini menghalang dari aktiviti harian anakanda
Putera dan Puteri dalam menjalani kehidupan di Universiti Malaya.

well as we know, we'll be entering our 2nd year this coming july.. oh god, i wonder how fast time fle w by.. pffftttt!! but, this is not my concern currently.. what concerns me is our orientation week, neither UM's (Minggu Mesra Siswa) nor our faculty's having (with cool smocking JKO huh).. LOL!!

i was reading an article entitled "Minggu Suaikenal Universiti Perlu Reformasi" written by Dr Mohd Noor Yazid on his view of our orientation week, the one we're having in IPTAs.. whether it's working accordingly or sadly not.. he's the Pensyarah Kanan, Sekolah Sains Sosial, Universiti Malaysia Sabah..

i found that the article is a brilliant opinion.. it might give some fresh impression to the upcoming JKOs and PMs from our batchmate,i thought so.. ;D

Good day,everybody...
How's hols? Sedar tak sedar, we have less than a month before we become 2nd year students....Cool,a senior already...Ha2...Though I'm sure most of these juniors are bigger,n taller than me.. ;)

As you can see, I change the template of the blog...again...yeah..again..after several changes were made...Izzat,hope you don't mind I pick up this layout.No hard feelings,rite? I think this green colour(which you once choose,nyway) is much better..The colour...It looks brighter, and energetic, giving a breath to this "not so" active and interacitive blog.Hu2(I need to admit that)

I guess right when nex sem is on, this site will be HOTTER,more VISITORS and RESPONSES as this site works more than just a medium for us to change opinion n thoughts.Those announcements of important dates, current topic and also "exam results" are EXTREMELY HELPFUL.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) will soon be scrapped in favour of the Common Bar Course (CBC) and Common Bar Exam (CBE), Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said.

Citing that a study by a committee appointed by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board (LPQB) on how to implement the move was in its final stages, Zaid said the goal was to standardise and improve the quality of law practitioners.

“The CBC and CBE will be mandatory for anyone who wants to practise law, whether they are local or foreign graduates.”

Zaid, however, would not speculate on whether the CBC and CBE would be the only prerequisite before a graduate is called to the Bar or whether chambering would continue.

i hope to hear responses and opinions since this will effect us.. =)
i have no idea when i read this..cause honestly i only know that after LLB there will be chambering..but other than that..i dont know anything..

why are you here(Law Fac UM) anyway? because u want to? parents? just accepted an unwanted offer?

well.
as for me.
i didnt really have a choice.
i wanted to do something else but my parents didnt allow me to.
and sometimes i feel i dont deserve this spot.
that some law-obssessed person should take it(no offence)
it feels so frustrating at times that i even consider dropping out after 1st year.
but it's the parents' feelings i am trying to protect here.
not mine.

Huhu...Nad here. So...study week starts today...OFFICIALLY but damn, I x bleh study and asyik rase nak merepek-repek. Ntah ape la. Bosan doe. Tidak pernah ku bayangkan begini rupanya idup di Faculty Undang-Undang UM. Nak kate best, mmg best pun...nk kata cam buat org rase cam nak bunuh diri, memang cam tu pun. Tp...x tau la. Macam2 masalah la plak akhir2 nie. Mmg aku tertekan smpai nk baca pn rase baca ntah pape. Pape je la...yang penting korang jgn la jadi cam aku. Be happy! WE are at the end of our 1st year in the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. . .
For me, it has been a fantastic period of time in every way. . . from meeting people, making the wonderful friends, having interesting personalities as lecturers to learning the law. . . .

the 1st years. . . i feel, have been united at all times. . . and i sincerely hope that we remain close as a batch so that we could all march forward towards our goals together. . .
I hope that WE could make an impact to the faculty in whatever we do.. academic and non-academic activities.
